War Thunder update...

A little side to this but my Junior School headmaster used to salute me and I was 'Squadron Leader'. Each year I gained a promotion. I was well known as 'Spitfire Jefferies' and aircraft crazy. He was a brilliant headmaster.

My cat Layla has broken my latest Airfix build. Wheels and antennae are MIA on the 1:72 Spitfire.

I can't be mad at her though. How could I?

This was the one for me. Recall taking it to school as well and reading it during breaks. I was determined to learn about all the aircraft and drew my favourites in art class before playing 'Battle of Britain' games in the playground.

I should also add I saw Cyril Barton's VC that was awarded after the Nuremberg raid of 30/31 March 1944. Quite something to see this.

Daily Mail owner Lord Rothermere had challenged the British aviation industry to produce the fastest passenger aircraft in the world and the Type 142 was the result.…
