Maybe we can think about social media (in all its forms of interactive digital communication) to be literally *part of the equation* in many/most social phenomena, by now? A part that can play different roles, but that we need to understand and shape (because we can and built it)

Did a paper about the value of open science practices like preregistration--whose author list includes some high profile open science advocates--really fib about the status of its own preregistration?
