Fantastic infographic. The are bad LNP policy from 2018: before the pandemic and the colossal spending that accompanied it, before the inflation, rental and cost of living crisis. It is so out of step it borders on immoral. How can the ALP continue to support this?

“The world’s most productive areas, the places where the biggest breakthroughs are made, are in cities. But if we make them prohibitively expensive, the chance of a scientific or technological innovation is reduced.”

There are solutions beyond USA/UK: but we need political will.

“NIMBYs come in a variety of forms, but the most confounding are those who call themselves progressive yet abuse laws conceived to protect the environment, or foster good government, to block desperately needed housing, driving up costs and fueling homelessness.”

My column today on the inequality of wealth - and yep it has a lot to do with housing (and some not great graphs for anyone born after 1980)

Young Australians never stood a chance. For decades the controls have been set to favour older generations theguardian.com/business/grogo…

Delighted to hear this from new NSW Housing Minister Rose Jackson

Sydney’s density peaks 20km from the CBD. For fairness, more social & must be within the well-served inner suburbs. I spoke to RN Drive about the movement & enabling density done well.

One of the weirdest things about Australian urbanism discourse is the argument that tall buildings create shaded public spaces, and this is bad. But on this 36C past Sunday, the fact that Eyre Street market's forecourt is sheltered from the sun was a big draw.
