I'm not here any more, but I still have a lot of followers here, so--my paper on queer Vikings and queer Viking gods was just published & is online here:

Don't tell me why I believe the way I do--and I'll show you the same courtesy. Assume you know better than I do about the source of my beliefs, and I'll start on you--and believe me, you don't want these hands.

He would have been more successful if he'd been Clark Sasston Smith, is all I'm saying. HPL needed someone sassy to talk back to him.

I used to really enjoy Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books. And then I spent a few years researching old (*old*) English folklore. And now I'm rereading the Tiffany Aching books again, and it's the depth of research Pratchett did for them that is impressing me.

No plastic organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute capitalism; even Pokemon and Allan are supposed, by some, to dream. Barbie's Dream House, not sane, stood by itself among the hills, holding pinkness within; it had stood so for eighty years

I always used to be afraid of burning to death, but after last night I can state definitively that choking is in the top 3 most horrible deaths.

My birthday is on Sunday. 57th. Which is not really far from 60th, which is weighing on my mind. 60th. That's the same decade in which you're supposed to retire (ha!). I wish I had a grandparent or parent to ask about this stuff.

Cosmic horror before Lovecraft. It's from Bierce's 'Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge,' a story HPL didn't mention in 'Supernatural Horror in Literature.'

I will admit, though, that the experimental film Schrodinger, which just shows, from the inside of a box, the lid being opened and closed randomly for two hours, was a worthy investment on Paramount's part.

so tired of origin stories. Please just let Oppenheimer be the end of it. Niels Bore, sorry, Bohr will be a bust. Edwin Teller will be a bust. And the movie where they all come together as a team, the Aristocrats of Science? Mega-bust.

Changing an entire brand name just so you can bankroll a 'Ballistic: Ecks versus Sever' starring your own social media platform is a bit extreme.

Twitter-X, the social network for everyone in Scott Summers' family.

(alternatively)

Twitter-X, Scott Summers' fourth brother. He's not EXXXTREEEEMMMEEEE, he's more like the brother who shows up to ask if he can borrow $150 and when he leaves you have to check your wallet.

That's me: watching the countdown to OPPENHEIMER and yet somehow surprised when the Atomic Bombing Discourse starts.
