@jfitzgeraldMD I didn’t know but I’m not shocked. Women’s healthcare is understudied, underfunded, and it’s unacceptable!

@jfitzgeraldMD There’s a code for “struck by raccoon” (W55.52). Are raccoons hitting people more frequently than people are getting diagnosed with ovarian torsion? I wouldn’t have thought so. I mean, I’ve worked with raccoons and they rarely hit me.

@jfitzgeraldMD I had an ovarian cyst that torsed. The doctor told me that it was my bladder & to pee. I had emergency surgery the next day to remove a baseball sized cyst. Torsion was the most painful thing ive ever experienced. Luckily it undid itself but who knows how much damage was done

@jfitzgeraldMD My takeaway from these posts (beyond the patriarchy and misogyny): a lot of men must have been hit by raccoons, bitten by orcas, burned by water skis, attacked by turtles and injured at art galleries. Something is seriously wrong with men’s risk assessment and resiliency.
