Catcher Bryan Broecker continues his strong start defensively. He catches Albertsen Asigen trying to steal second base in the fourth inning. The catcher from Michigan State is now 6 of 10 in throwing out attempted base stealers for the Charleston RiverDogs.
Talked with Joshuan Sandoval about his scoreless inning on the mound last night for today's pre-game show starting at 10:40. The catcher also discussed his journey to pro ball and how much being part of the Rays organization means to him.
The Charleston RiverDogs might have found a new stud pitching prospect in catcher Joshuan Sandoval. On a night when Kannapolis has 13 runs on 13 hits, he just worked a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He tossed all knuckleballs that didn't register on trackman except for one 86 mph heater.
Pre-game starts one hour earlier today at 5:45. Guest is former Duke Blue Devils pitcher Adam Boucher who has carved out a role as a late-inning option out of the pen in his first full-season.
Pre-game show hits the air at 6:45 p.m. The RiverDogs currently rank 2nd in MiLB in stolen bases and I'll be joined by Bench Coach Nighttrainrich🎶🙌🏾 to talk about that and more.
Santiago Suarez allowed his first runs of the season, but was really good yet again for the Charleston RiverDogs. 6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. Runs came on a two-out home run by Erick Pena in the fourth.
The Charleston RiverDogs had nobody on base with two outs in the ninth inning and the game tied 2-2. Back-to-back walks set the table and Odalys Peguero takes advantage by lining a walk-off single into right field. Charleston RiverDogs win 3-2.
Impressive how much speed and baserunning ability Rays Player Development has added to the farm system recently. The Single-A Charleston RiverDogs and High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods rank 2nd and 3rd in MiLB with 38 and 34 stolen bases, respectively. Combined success rate is 85%.
First time out of the bullpen as the tail end of a piggyback for Andrew Lindsey. He had great results. 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 7 K's.
Odalys Peguero is starting to heat up. He singles through the right side to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth. Peguero has brought home a run in each of the last two games. Charleston RiverDogs tied 2-2 with Columbia.
