Adults will say “oh I can’t host Christmas without a brand new remodeled kitchen in a 3,000 sq ft house full of designer decor”

Meanwhile the best Christmas parties of your childhood looked like this:

Sinéad O’Connor’s cover of Elton John’s “Sacrifice” moved me to tears the first time I heard it 30+ years ago— and it just happened again.

I met Sinéad O'Connor once, briefly, at Def Jam, 298 Elizabeth St.

She was waifish; surprisingly small & delicate. Big smile.

Had on a leather jacket, Doc Martens, and the PUBLIC ENEMY 'target' logo shaved in her hair, left side of her head.

R.I.P.

Perhaps Sinead O'Connor wasn't a tragic woman. Perhaps this is a tragic world, and she was one of the few sane among us. Her artistry & bravery is what lasts, not least the moment for which she was most attacked; I was a 12-year-old Catholic girl watching SNL, and I am grateful.

“Everyone wants a pop star, see? But I am a protest singer. I just had stuff to get off my chest. I had no desire for fame.”

Sinéad O'Connor, may you rest in peace you fierce legend.

“They wanted me to grow my hair really long and wear miniskirts and all that kind of stuff because they reckoned I'd look much prettier… So I went straight around to the barber and shaved the rest of my hair off.'

— Sinead O’Connor, feminist firebrand.

Sad to hear of the passing of sister Shuhada Sadaqat, also known as Sinéad O'Connor. She was a tender soul, may God, Most Merciful, grant her everlasting peace. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon - Verily we belong to God, and verily to Him do we return. 2:156
