This is a new one. I have a credit facility with a well known sportsbook. I had some season long football bets that have matured losing a couple of grand. Logon to clear balance. They wont let me as it exceeds new daily deposit limit ‘in accordance with Gambling Com regulations’

1️⃣ week to go until our Centenary Raceday!

We caught up with Guy, Executive Director, as he discussed why Fontwell is such a great track for both the racing industry and racegoers.

How telling this basic concept seems to come as a revelation to Stuart Andrew.

And how depressing to hear Ben Dean from Department for Culture, Media and Sport conflate “lived experience” from people who gamble happily and safely with input from the betting industry.

When will bettors be permitted their voice?

This is horrible. Imagine a horse loses 10 lengths at the start and then wins! Too many arguments here, too many delays and too many unhappy punters. Way too subjective too.

Still no explanation as to why AML checks are required by betting companies. Can Gambling Commission actually explain the reason a betting operator does these checks?

I am honestly not sure what to make of the interview. A whole lot of words. Not a huge amount of substance.

There were some points I actually think AR articulated quite well (i.e. the reason we are having to go through this process is a direct consequence of the bookmakers

'Why would gambling be any different?'
Applying for credit (mortgage/ rental agreement/ car finance) is a very different thing to wanting to spend your own money exactly how you choose to spend it.

As Neil Channing says:
1⃣ 12,000 responded affordability checks 4 years ago
2⃣ 100,000 people signed a petition rejecting affordability checks for gambling.

IMO Bookmakers using open banking to get transaction data will allow profiling like never before.

Let me help with the maths. Obtrusive affordability checks will affect over 80% of racing stakes (not this facile 5% number banded around). By the straw poll of X, this 3% cohort is dead against open banking.
