There’s nothing I love more than stripping things back for some old time jams. The sound you’re hearing comes from a gourd viola & banjo made by Menzies Instruments. They’re reproductions of instruments from the 1800s & with them they bring back the history & voices of our ancestors

Across the millennia, a style that’s stood the test of time!

A pair of espadrilles from Spain 🤩

Made some 5,000 years ago from esparto grass. Found in the 1800s, in the Cave of Los Murciélagos, Albuñol. Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Madrid.

The Roman Barbegal watermill complex - perhaps the first attempt in Europe to set up industrial-scale 'machines'.

Built c. 1,900 years ago, it consisted of 16 waterwheels that continuously milled grain, making 25 tonnes of flour a day!
