This horrendous case is the tip of the iceberg. The way this country treats benefit claimants is a national scandal.

Donelan is incredibly lucky there are so many other catastrophes around her in government, because this is a major scandal and if the media had spent another few days pressuring her she would have been forced to pay back the money or resign. Now she should do both.

Young trans people already face huge barriers to healthcare, including years-long waiting lists.
