To clarify, the @libdems have been calling for this since 2021. It’s not a “reaction”. Ed Davey reissued our statement as a result of the tragic deaths of the aid workers in Gaza.

We were first to call for a bilateral ceasefire, for immediate aid & to get hostages home.

But no calls for a ceasefire?

They braved the horrors of war to get food to starving families. Their deaths are horrifying and heartbreaking.

This violence has to stop. Now. We need an immediate bilateral ceasefire – a real ceasefire that finally sets us on the path to a lasting peace.

The idea that UK-made weapons might been used to kill any civilians is sickening. That three British aid workers are among them brings it into tragic focus.

⌛Time is running out for Rishi Sunak. He may have dodged a General Election, but 2 May's local elections are coming fast.

We all want an end to the trauma for both Palestinian and Israelis families. I urged the UK Government to impose sanctions against those Israelis ministers supporting settler violence as a means of pressurising their government.

For the Conservative and Labour parties, the current system suits them.

It lets the Conservatives in most of the time, despite the majority of people voting against them.

But Labour knows – if they wait long enough, their turn will come.

We must win the fight for fair votes.

This govt must stop stoking division, and challenge hate wherever it appears.
