Comments are due Monday for Treasury's hydrogen rules. We need the Biden Admin to finalize strong rules that protect our climate. Big loopholes will only lead to big pollution. The fossil fuel industry is pushing for weak rules. Biden must stand strong!

It's here: my annual presentation on decarbonization.

There is a lot going on, and I attempt to capture it in 200 slides. Ocean heat content, deforestation, fund performance, vehicle efficiency, lighting technology, GLP-1 agonists, and much more. nathanielbullard.com/presentations

Cybertruck, quite literally, driving circularity!

We had some fun putting the Cybertruck to work hauling 10,000 lbs of recycled nickel and lithium products from our NV Battery Materials Campus. Our team is inventing and building the US battery supply chain one process and…

Working with Bentley Allan, we tallied up the IRA incentives that could be unlocked as the nickel from one mine flows through the US’s battery & EV supply chain.

Bottom line: Tens of billions in tax credits could be in play.

Exciting news that CTR’s geothermal and lithium project in the Salton Sea is moving forward. This is huge for both clean firm power AND critical minerals.

The world is just beginning to see the massive value geothermal is bringing the energy transition.

Biochar, which has done the lion’s share of carbon removal outside forests, is maybe more permanent storage than we thought.

Methods that use biology to capture carbon (avoiding bad thermodynamics of industrial capture) and engineering to help store it longer term intrigue me.

The Biden Administration is poised to set sound rules for clean hydrogen (see my explainer here canarymedia.com/articles/hydro…). Some industry voices are pushing for much laxer rules. I want to drill down on one spurious argument made by the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Energy Association...🧵

For now, this looks much more like a winnowing down of who is competitive in the market than a general drop-off in demand.

Pure-play EV automakers are running away with it. They now account for 7% of global vehicle sales.
