I'm not asking about individual writers, because it's very clear they say there are benefits, but I'm wondering about the practice (institutionally) of learning the writing craft in MFAs, workshops etc. Do these help, or harm the practice of writing?

'Each of us believes that there is no panda in Doncaster that is glued to six lawnmowers.' Coming from Doncaster, I wouldn't be so sure. But I applaud the authors for mentioning Donny in a philosophy paper.

One of the 17C Philosopher John Locke's correspondents maintained that the Germans and Scandinavians could not always have lived purely bipedally because they called gloves 'handshoes' (Handschuhe, Old Saxon handskoh).
