Today I finished packing up Chris’ office. It was one of the hardest things I’ve done since he died. He LOVED his job, and we made so many memories during his 12.5 years in that space. What I wouldn’t give to relive this one — the kids running into Chris’ arms before a game.

Cleaning out Chris’ office. My logical brain knew this day would come, knew it had to. My emotional brain feels like the world is moving on without him, forgetting him, turning the page. My chest aches.

Losing your person is overwhelming in so many ways, not least of which is the amount of paperwork you need to do and track down when your brain is already struggling to function. Highly recommend doing these jobs with a puppy on your lap. Makes them much less awful. ❤️🥜

Today we gathered and we celebrated and we laughed and we hugged and, mostly, we skated. All for Chris. You are deeply missed and deeply loved, Christopher. Merry Christmas. We know you are all around us. 💞

December is so heavy. Each morning I wake up and the ache in my chest has grown deeper and stronger and more crushing. Friday is our 16th wedding anniversary. He is gone, and I am here, and just the thought of that day looming ahead on the calendar brings me to my knees.

Four stockings, three people, countless tears.

We are so grateful and so, so proud of Chris for the way he lived and loved, the story he wrote and the legacy he left.

When the x - Colorado Avalanche told us they wanted to honor Chris at tonight’s game against the Calgary Flames in Denver we were so grateful. When they asked us if we would be their guests, well, you can see the look on these two faces.
