One of the funny things you learn, in a life in policy, is that the ones who bleat the most from the right about freedom and self-sovereignty and individual liberty, etc, cannot comprehend how *basic, everyday* life skills work without assistants, staff, PAs, interns, & nannies.

Imagine if the government commissioned a review of abortion services, and its terms of reference explicitly precluded anyone who'd had an abortion, or provided abortion services or support, from leading or advising the review.

Would that be seen as 'neutral'?

I still don’t understand why major funding agencies like NIH don’t have their own jounals that are mandatory and free to publish in if you are funded by them. It would solve many of the issues we have now and save those agencies a ton of money wasted on publication fees

The fundamental error all of these GenAI use cases make is in assuming that people will want to read something that other people couldn't be bothered to write.

I have a smart TV that goes into energy saver mode after a while, but instead of turning off it switches over to some otherwise unknown and unfound Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman channel that only plays episodes from the series. I’m 100% serious.

WHY was she running her story through AI? What it spewed out was generic+ bland+ added nothing. We want your voice, your writing. Not some nondescript picture book text that AI has helped with. Stay away from it in your creative writing at all costs. It is not going to help you!
