Great time volunteering Brighton Marathon Weekend at the weekend, what a fantastic team 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️

Hi Wes Streeting MP, I worked 2 out of 5 weekends in March, I’m working 3 out of 4 weekends in April, and 2 out of 4 weekends in May… can we have some funding now?

This weekend is Brighton Marathon Weekend.

It is a pleasure to be here again with Carrie Weller, Rob Galloway, St John Ambulance England to deliver the most unique and innovative medical team on to keep our runners safe. 🏃🏼‍♂️🏥🚨🚑💚

It has been an amazing few years as medical dircetor of the Brighton Marathon Weekend.

But sadly our Medical team have made the decision to step down and this will be our last year delivering the medical care for a TCS London Marathon organised marathon in Brighton & Hove City Council .

If I'm completely honest:
I'm too embarrassed to make eye contact with patients bedded in our A&E corridors, or waiting in the ambulance offload queue.
I suspect so does hospital executive teams, who rarely come to A&E, and when they do, rarely engage with patients.

Only took a few years of applications 🤣 🤣 what a frustrating recruitment system we have with lots of good doctors missing out.

The political policy of more medical school spaces alone will lead to more poor doctors left like this.. Need more training posts too…
