Harry Duggan drives off at the annual Braithwaite Cup, played at Selby Golf Course, August 1936. Leeds United plyers, officials and ground staff took part in the competition. Less then two months later Duggan was transferred to Newport County.

In 1899 a resident of Holbeck asked their relative, a steward on a passenger steamer to bring back an alligator from a trip to the Congo. After keeping the pet in the cellar, on top of the kitchen fireplace and a hot bath, it was decided to advertise the pet for sale in the paper
