1913 - Leeds City suffer a 1-0 away defeat at Woolwich Arsenal, Benson scoring a penalty which was not obvious to many of the 30000 in attendance. A goalless draw would have suited the teams better. Pictured is Hampson, the Leeds City centre half clearing from a corner.

(1933) G. J. Longbottom of Middlesbrough won the 100 yards Yorkshire Championship at the Fullerton Park, Elland Road, Leeds, with a bicycle being his prize. The promotion, one of the various sports to be held on Fullerton Park, was scarcely a success with only a poor attendance

Harry Duggan drives off at the annual Braithwaite Cup, played at Selby Golf Course, August 1936. Leeds United plyers, officials and ground staff took part in the competition. Less then two months later Duggan was transferred to Newport County.

Major Frank Buckley during his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers with his automatic kicking machine taken in 1938, the same machine that he used later in his career at Leeds United.

Unable to afford tail tickets, over 20,000 Barnsley fans walked the 20 miles from Barnsely to Leeds for the second FA Cup 4th round replay at Elland Road against Bradford City, singing all their favourite pantomime songs on the way 1912. Score 0-0, attendance 45,000 (est).

1928, Leeds United fans gather in the city centre to celebrate promotion from Division Two. Despite losing their final game 5-1 away to Stoke, Leeds United finished second in the table, behind Manchester City.

Leeds United and Aston Villa meet for the first time in a 3-0 loss for the Peacocks at Villa Park, FA Cup 3rd round, 1924, when the average price of a pint of beer was 6d. 56000 watched the game including a good number from Yorkshire. Shirwin and Duffield are pictured for Leeds.

H Bolton of Armley Leeds, was imprisoned for one month after stealing Blackburn Rovers and Scotland's Tom Brandon's clothes from a hotel room where Brandon had left it, 1898.

Boxing Day 1898, at the call of time Harrogate beat Leeds United 8 goals to nil. United were missing two of their best players after they opted to play for Otley instead. Leeds United played at the Cardigan Fields in the West Yorkshire League resigning from the league in Jan 1899

In 1899 a resident of Holbeck asked their relative, a steward on a passenger steamer to bring back an alligator from a trip to the Congo. After keeping the pet in the cellar, on top of the kitchen fireplace and a hot bath, it was decided to advertise the pet for sale in the paper

Leeds Speedway, opened on Fullerton Park in 1928, home of the Leeds Lions Speedway team, closed in 1938.

The Leeds Football Club (rugby) move into the newly acquired Peacock Ground on Elland Road, 1878. Long lines of seats surround the field of play, with a pavilion standing at one end of the ground. A rope will be used to separate the spectators from the field of play.

Leeds United beat Bradford (Park Avenue) 2-1, in the West Riding County Cup, 1953. The competitions largest crowd of over 18,000 fans saw what would be the 4th game under lights at Elland Rd. Nightingale & Williams scored for Leeds with Milburn scoring for Bradford.
