Not included in this reporting was the federal lawsuit brought re the death of Jocelyn Gomez, a 23 year old woman who died within a week of being incarcerated at Todd Road jail in #VenturaCounty . That case was settled in late 2023.
2019, CEO Johnson Speaking to #VenturaCounty Supervisors about the jails, stating that the County is doing so much to help reduce the number of #mentallyill and #SUD inmates. Stunning how untrue her statements were. Supervisors should get the truth.
Another preventable tragedy resulting in another lawsuit against #VenturaCounty . How many more deaths and lawsuits before this county does something?

#VenturaCounty acting Director Denering during a meeting with the NAMI advocacy group, a group that advocates for care and treatment for people with #seriousmentalillness . She is defensive and attacking. This is not collaboration. We can and should do better in #VenturaCounty .
Tomorrow, #VenturaCounty Supervisors will be appointing an Acting Director for their #mentalhealth Department. This woman is the current Acting Director. #VenturaCounty cannot afford more status quo. We need someone with compassion for people who are ill-not this.
Another example of the lack of transparency in #Venturacounty government. The CEO and Acting Director of BH got rid of SG through a bogus HR complaint. The writer of this letter was subjected to the same treatment, a bogus HR complaint. Why do Supervisors look the other way?
#Venturacounty Supervisors, the buck stops with you.Where are the #ARPA and #MHSA funds you told us would go toward more #mentalhealth services for those most in need? These services have been promised for years and still no action. Where is the #transparency and #accountability ?
I wish we had more leaders unwilling to rubber stamp grave inequities that perpetuate stigma against people who suffer with treatable diseases. Thank you, Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer for being a leader with compassion.
