Reminded the hard way that Bandcamp isn't immune to content vanishing compared to streaming services. I bought multiple albums from a label, then realized today that their entire Bandcamp page, plus all my purchases from them, have vanished. Buy physical or download/back up 😔

virtualized lists are probably the most egregious example of something that really should be native

can’t believe this is an optimization we’re implementing in js

Prairie strips are a farm conservation practice that requires minimal intervention and delivers huge benefits

By converting 10% of cropland to native prairie, farmers can reduce soil loss by 95%, total phosphorous loss by 90%, and total nitrogen loss by 85%

A quick summary:

Daydreaming (get it) about people being even 1/100th as excited about how to accelerate the restoration of native ecosystems and removal of invasive plants as they are about the possibilities of better AI

the amount of work we do to support astro, remix, solid start, and sveltekit combined is a fraction of supporting nextjs

the unification around vite has been fantastic - nothing is stronger than a tool that competing frameworks are built on top of

I wonder if a photo of me driving has ever been used in a Captcha and people around the world have been covering my car with blue boxes so they can log into their bank account

Really enjoying vanilla-extract CSS lately. Being able to leverage TypeScript to define themes and styles that are ultimately compiled to plain, static CSS (rather than inline style objects at runtime) is a dream come true. vanilla-extract.style

Dear Greenpeace International, is there a or not?

Taiwan already has reactors built that can provide real but your organisation wastes resources fighting this.

We need you to stop this opposition & join us in the fight against fossil fuels.

Apple tech *has* to start getting smarter. By all means, do all AI stuff on-device, but if I tell my iPhone 100 times to autofill a personal email instead of a work address, you don't keep prioritizing the work address, or make me search for manual fixes.

Despite the fear around nuclear power, the technology has proven to be a reliable and emission-free way to produce electricity on a small footprint. Watch the video to see why nuclear energy is on the verge of a renaissance. cnb.cx/3H4TIJz

In Copenhagen, like in so many great European cities, it’s a joy to simply wander and be inspired by the different ways a city can be designed for its people.

Rather than parking spots, why not have a harbor promenade with built-in trampolines for the populace? It can be done!

Correct way to be an immigrant:
—don't be unemployed and steal from public services
—don't be employed and steal a job from the native-born
—don't bring your children, parents, or family
—don't send money back to your country of birth to support your children, parents, or family

“In the future, millions of Americans will want to immigrate to Africa.

And I don’t just mean retirees looking to stretch their dollars, or perverts looking for sex tourist thrills.

I mean all kinds of Americans will want to permanently move to Africa.”

This is jarring.

“Major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco have seen some of the largest declines among young families… all greater than 10 percent. New York City’s under-five population was 12.5 percent smaller in July 2022 than April 2020.”
