By next Wednesday, temperatures will widely reach 15-18C, which is around average for May.

Whilst there will be some sunshine, showers and thunderstorms will still be in the mix.

Last night was cold and frosty for quite a few places.

Overnight minimum temperatures for many locations were 6-9C below average.

Having the sunshine makes all the difference at this time of year.

In the sunshine in the west, temperatures are in the mid teens.

Under the cloud and rain in the east, temperatures are stuck in single figures - around 5 to 7C below average for April.

Chilly air will sit across the UK this week, with some frost likely at night - especially in rural areas.

Towns and cities will be around 2-6C, but some rural areas could dip a few degrees below freezing.

Gardeners beware!

There’s a good chance of seeing the aurora borealis when it gets dark, with high geomagnetic activity.
