The more I read the news, the more I retreat to the woods. Nature is undemanding, quietly performing complex, beautiful, daily miracles, whether or not we notice. Out here with the trees, there’s an odd reassurance that comes from feeling how insignificant we are, how fleeting.

We saw many insects on the thistles as we walked along the coast, they're clearly a great source of food. Bumblebee Conservation Trust

I put up a little fat ball feeder outside our holiday accommodation, it soon attracted the locals.
