The thing I absolutely love about the astrological-sign-as-a-test-for-housing discourse is that it almost certainly violates California's fair housing/anti-racism laws that prohibit discrimination based on arbitrary criteria.

The people holding the signs saying “save free parking” are from the coastal org that help gut streamlining for housing in the Coast

We filed an amicus brief in this case along with CalHDF 🌇⚖️ and California YIMBY, glad to see SCOTUS side with us.

Impact fees are often abused to block housing and this decision means it’s possible to make sure fee laws can’t be abused in the same way.

Great SCOTUS ruling to bring fairness, transparency to costly and often arbitrary local impact fees that are worsening our housing affordability crisis. Proud to submit an amicus brief in support!

I disagree. The court decided nothing except that 'exactions' imposed by a legislative body can, in principle, be challenged as unconstitutional takings.

All the meaty questions were left for another day.

When I talk about why it matters to elect young leaders who bring a different generational perspective on the issues, the one that makes it most obvious to doubters is housing. In CA, Alex Lee 李天明 is proving the point. sfstandard.com/2024/04/09/ale…

From a friend with a locked account who makes an excellent point. And keep in mind, 129 pages of report is just the Coastal Commission’s report, which always means a local government has already created a separate report and approved the project.

Sen Blakespear was treated extremely unfairly by the Natural Resources Committee. Her bills would have established a timeline for housing review in the Coast and streamlined ADUs. That's reasonable. Her opponents want to maximize power to stop housing in the Coast. Thank you Dan!

For all of you interested in understanding the housing crisis in California, the thread below is worth both your time and your thoughtful consideration. I grew up in Santa Barbara, a beautiful, developed community on the Central Coast. I get asked all the time why I don’t still…
