The NDP's days as the dominant Alberta fundraising party (yeah, it surprised me, too) are over in the Danielle Smith era. And the gap may only widen:

Sixers win, Pacers and Magic both lose, so we have a 3-way tie in the 5-6-7 seeds going into the final day of the season. Still possible Indy could fall into the play-in, miss the playoffs and owe the Raptors a lottery pick (it’s top-3 protected, though).

Rare for a paragraph to stop

Danielle Smith punches at Ottawa again, and this time gets screams of pain.
They're from mayors, academics and others caught in her gatekeeping proposal.

The UCP gvt is keeping its commitment to reducing red tape by *checks notes* stopping any entity regulated by the province from entering into, renewing or extending a deal with Ottawa without approval from the province. theglobeandmail.com/canada/alberta…

Research Funding 101 , by Lisa Young open.substack.com/pub/lisayoung/… A good explanatory piece about university research funding and a warning that it could be imperiled by proposed UCP legislation.

Interesting data from the Writ. The loss of incumbents is *very* bad news for the NDP.

In 2019, 'the NDP lost an average of 3.6 points where they had incumbents and 10.4 points where they didn’t.'

And 2021 wasn't much better (3.8% v 9.4%).
