My daily (Day 16) harvestmen contribution to 2021. Chile have many colourful harvestment, but I liked the homogeneous brownish and the rounded shining tubercles of this representative of the genus Pachylus (Gonyleptidae: Pachylinae).

Terrible news today

N Yorkshire Council has given permission for a quarry extension next to the amazing (and delicate) nature reserve Brockadale

Spent many hours there and one of the best sites in Yorkshire for butterflies amongst other things…

We observed a number of these tiny (approx. 3mm) spiders on orb webs at the base of sloe bushes today & knew they were different given shape of the abdomen 🔍 So hard to photograph but believe this is our 1st record of Cyclosa conica 💚🕷️

Everyone loves to find a new species. I was delighted to finally find Neon reticulatus today, sifted from woodland sphagnum in Holmfirth. A mighty 2mm.

I see these two species daily, or should that be nightly? Mostly I think that adults can be separated by habitus but the males definitely remove any doubt.
Amaurobius fenestralis and Amaurobius similis.
