Finally read the Uri Berliner piece on NPR biasand I'm baffled by how little the enormous media controversy it spawned has resulted in scrutiny of its claims for factual accuracy. There are significant problems with the piece including obvious, verifiable falsehoods

No comment on NPR 's bias or lack of bias, but will say that public funding to NPR does more than just produce quality journalism. It employs hundreds of reporters and writers with loads of talent who cover hurricanes, tornados, local elections, etc for their local communities

And this is the beauty of public radio: NPR is a constellation of member stations located in communities across the country, where everyday local reporters talk to regular people. That reporting often ends up on national air.

This is one vacant property in D.C. that never made any sense. It was a big house on Capitol Hill that would have sold for loads of money. Instead, the owner just kept it vacant for years, and now has to pay a big penalty for reneging on vacant property taxes.

Height Act, Switzerland edition: There's a nascent movement to bring a measure to the ballot in Switzerland that would loosen zoning regulations and allow for slightly taller residential buildings as a means to address a housing shortage. einen-stock-hoeher.ch/fr
