people need to be alive and well enough to do the things that foster connections. if OP was trying to make the point that children cannot consent to repeated exposures to viruses, this was not the best way to frame it

I wrote about NPR 's decision to frame disabled people's ongoing exclusion from all public spaces as an annoyance to be navigated by individuals, rather than a massive civil rights violation to be challenged by the collective.

So high risk folks are just expected to what, stay home forever (not possible for many), constantly negotiate (often unsuccessfully) to exist in public spaces like everyone else, and bear the burden in protecting ourselves & others, right?

Many folks are pushing to go “back to normal” because they’re upset that their lives were upended in early days of Covid pandemic. I get it. My life was upended when I became disabled. But here’s the thing - “normal” isn’t working. It’s a mirage. 🧵 on denial & false ‘normal’ /1

i want to emphasize that any mitigation strategies are better than none.
i also want to emphasize that any infection prevented is good- it is not too late to take precautions if you have had COVID or if you haven’t been taking precautions

The use of high-quality masks (like N95/KN95 respirators) by patients, compared with surgical masks, substantially reduced Covid infections among nearly 4,000 health care workers
