There’s a weird tension in modernist thought between its pursuit of new technologies that could very well disrupt society, and its critique of anti-modernists who call for human behavioural changes as these require disruptions in human behaviour…

Palantir CEO Alex Karp presents the Palestine solidarity campus protest movement as an existential threat to American empire: 'If we lose the intellectual battle, we will not be able to deploy any army in the West, ever.'

Wherever you stand on the debates around 'green growth' and 'degrowth' and ecological economics and climate politics, you should read this Andrew Ahern piece. It well clarifies the terms of these debates with a perspective too often lost or dismissed.

'The Royal Society’s decision not to call out the industry was described as “moral cowardice” by James Dyke, earth system science professor at Exeter university.' I said I had other words, all of them unprintable (at least by the esteemed FT).

This fraud would be comical if it weren't horrific: Shell sold non-existent carbon credits based on non-existent carbon capture technologies at buy-one-get-one-free prices authorised by Alberta government:

Rep. Mike Collins 3. It's important to note that Rep. Mike Collins: 1. Did not apologize, 2. Has not removed the post where he glorifies the monkey-imitating counterprotesters.

This is totally fine.

'Shell sold millions of carbon credits tied to CO₂ removal that never took place to Canada’s largest oil sands companies, raising new doubts about a technology seen as crucial to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.'

At some point the question for the BBC will be - do you regret giving so much airtime to far right & extremist politicians who represent a minority view, whilst the Greens for example get hardly any prime time slots but represent significantly greater numbers of people?

Selling emissions credits for reductions that never happened from a technology that doesn't work (and pocketing the profits) must be peak greenwashing

Hard to see how you can say you don't support SRM deployment when you become advisor to a for-profit outfit working to commercialise it.

This may also cast Pasztor's old outfit C2G in a somewhat different light to the 'honest broker' they professed to be.
