Left with a lot of food for thought rounding out this trip as part of the Yusuf Hamied Faculty Fellowship CGC | Mumbai. Memorable visit for the valuable perspectives shared by leading experts on environmental health studies in India... and the envious view over the Marine Drive!

Wonderful visit with researchers at Holdsworth Memorial Hospital in Mysuru, home to the foundational studies exploring DOHaD in the developing world. Wowed seeing the record room housing the original birth records that spawned these studies with David Barker and Caroline Fall.

Enjoyed speaking with researchers Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) as well as Sagnik Dey and Ekta Chaudhary IIT Delhi to hear about the rich body of research exploring environmental health effects in India. Will miss the offers of fresh chai at meetings after this trip :-/

Excited to kick-off India travels in Delhi with the generous support of the #yusufhamied fellowship program. Being here during this record-setting heatwave, so keenly aware how few of us can afford the luxury of ventilation and safe-drinking water.

One key takeaway: genetic variants and environmental exposures impact common placental targets with known postnatal health effects. Happy to hear your ideas to verify such putative gene x environment interactions!
