iPhone : Those many millions of people who have followed the Government’s advice and stayed at home, coping with difficulty, did the right thing and still do. Vulnerable people are alive today because of the self-discipline of so many. I thank God for their integrity.
iPhone : My fear about Boris Johnson #StayAlert ever getting near the position he now holds was that he would do irreparable damage both to our standing in the world and to standards in public life. We are witnessing national decline live on TV and it is painful and stomach churning to watch
iPhone : Be open and honest, we said. Trashed. Respect the public, we said. Trashed Ensure equity, so everyone is treated the same, we said. Trashed. Be consistent we said. Trashed. Make clear 'we are all in it together'. Trashed.
iPhone : It is very hard to provide scientific advice to a government which doesn't want to listen to science. I hope, however, that the public will read our papers (publicly available at gov.uk/government/gro…) and continue to make up for this bad government with their own good sense.
iPhone : As one of those involved in SPI-B, the Government advisory group on behavioural science, I can say that in a few short minutes tonight, Boris Johnson has trashed all the advice we have given on how to build trust and secure adherence to the measures necessary to control COVID-19.
iPhone : Johnson comes out of that press conference more damaged than when he went in. - effectively told parents they were mugs for not following their "instincts", rather than rules - refused to say if he approved Cummings' trip - refused to say if DC took leisure trip to Barnard Castle
