Twitter Web App : If you're not angry, you're part of the problem. If you're not also confused, you'll never help solve it.

Twitter Web App : 3/None of us expresses ourselves perfectly all the time or even most of the time. Yes, these are hard days and we should choose our words extra carefully. Not every disagreement can be “civil.” But so many cheap shots over a series of thoughtful, measured tweets? My god, grow up.

Twitter Web App : 2/ You hear it again and again, not just from newsroom staffers but from employees and participants in all kinds of workplaces and institutions. The people piling on Bari know this. Many of them make similar observations privately.

Twitter Web App : The scope of Bari Weiss Derangement Syndrome among journo/media types on this platform is breathtaking. Her observation about divisions in the newsroom might not be the whole story (nothing ever is) but it’s not wrong.

Twitter Web App : Was excited to see my friend Sandy Asirvatham and her son Miles in this story about teens safely taking part in protests (I suspect many of them don't mind social distancing from their parents). Also, the ACLU app Mobile Justice sounds very cool. nytimes.com/2020/06/04/wel…

Twitter Web App : Larry Kramer was a maddening, brilliant, invaluable force. Incidentally, this recent Fresh Air interview with Michael Specter includes some fascinating details about the relationship between Kramer and Anthony Fauci. npr.org/transcripts/83… twitter.com/nytimes/status…

Twitter Web App : Fun to be part of this roundup of great longform magazine articles in The Caret. I'd add that all of these pieces surely came about not just because of excellent writing but excellent editing. Can't have one without the other.

Twitter Web App : Just inhaled this The New Yorker profile of Lionel Shriver. Ariel Levy is such a fine profiler and Shriver, as a subject, is a dream.

Twitter Web App : I hold out hope of resuming the Personal Essay & Memoir Masterclass this fall (maybe w/fewer students: my apt's not that big!) but for now am lucky to be doing private coaching w/wonderful students from all over the world. Some spots still left. Hit me! daummasterclass.com/private-coachi…

Twitter Web App : "Be relentlessly empirical." Kind of breathtaking what a breath of fresh air this column is. And I'm not referring to the photo. Thank you, Nicholas Kristof. twitter.com/NickKristof/st…
