But before the big day, the Columbia-housed Pulitzer board is putting its spotlight on the student journalists who covered nationwide protests 'in the face of great personal and academic risk.'

Fewer homes are for sale, interest rates have doubled in the past two years and housing prices are now at an all-time high.

The past year has been “a historically bad time to buy a house.”

After 2.5 years covering the Southwest Side here at Block Club, I’m switching things up.

Starting today, I’m the new Far North Side reporter covering Rogers Park, Edgewater and Uptown.

I'm listening to the student journalists at WKCR and it is absolutely harrowing. They're being told they can't leave Pulitzer Hall or they'll be arrested. Student journalists. Being threatened by the very administrators who should be protecting them. What an absolute nightmare.

It’s like mainstream media never learns their lesson. To often, these institutions have been accomplices in harm to marginalized communities. Yet, they are shocked when these same communities don’t trust them.
