NEW: The anger felt by communities that backed Brexit/rejected Labour hasn't dissipated - an anti-politics feeling remains a curve ball in the coming election.

It also has the potential to trip up Labour should it win.

YouGov records its highest lead for Labour since Liz Truss was prime minister (27 points).

Reform UK have 12% of the vote (+2), the highest vote share it has recorded for the party.

Hearing the MOJ has decided Blackpool magistrates court is so riddled with Raac that there's no point fixing it. Until the new court is built you'll have the poorest people in England making 1-2hr journeys by public transport to Lancaster or Blackburn. Expect a lot more no shows.

NEW: Fujitsu Europe boss on the Horizon scandal:

We were involved from the start, we did have bugs, and we did help Post office with prosections.

ICYMI: A seven-page memo that warned of a post office tragedy over failing IT - written 25 years ago.

So many chances missed to arrest the Horizon scandal. This was one of the earliest:

Ofsted: Children with complex needs can wait years for a stable home.

Quite apart from the impact on these vulnerable children, there are also knock on effects on the NHS here:

Some 4,500 people watching the live stream of the Horizon inquiry this morning - think I'd be confident in saying those are recorded viewing figures...

🚄 It's now pretty clear that no HS2 land will be sold by election, so new PM will have a dilemma over it.

Seems clear Phase 2a to Crewe is needed, or serious issues on West Coast Mainline/M6 pretty soon.

HS2 chief before the select committee tomorrow👀

Majority in Kingswood is just 11k - Labour the clear challenger and should feel confident. Not a great start to 2024 for Sunak.

We’ve known for a while Farage is set for a campaign job - but the fact he hasn’t turned up to the big Reform press conference today means, as so often, he’s leaving us guessing.

Here’s our story on all this from back in mid December:

Richard Tice gave a cast iron guarantee that Reform UK would be running across the country back in October, with the vow:

“Seriously, you could offer me five million quid and a peerage and I still wouldn’t' step aside for the Tories.

It was a big moment: theguardian.com/politics/2023/…
