On the menu for group meeting today: syntheses of #eribulin and analogues by Nicolaou et al. That eribulin was made from scratch in an industrial setting still blows my mind all these years later.

Happy to share Tianqi Ji's MSc thesis results, demonstrating thiazolium synthesis via thionation of α-formamido ketones. Purification is often the trouble with #NHC precursors, and precipitation is the name of the game with this method. Well done!

Happy to report a follow-up study on our [10]annulene story by Karn Parmar et al. We made Schleyer's postulated bis-cyclopropa[10]annulene and found it to be kinetically unstable. Also made a trans [10]annulene by accident! #aromaticity #annulene

In our group meeting this week, a recent paper by the Barriault group Université d'Ottawa | University of Ottawa was featured. With their compact polycyclic highly oxygenated framework, the ginkgolides are formidable targets.

This #inflation thing is really getting out of control.

Our latest preprint on #aromaticity , this one purely computational. A general alternative to NICS, even works for Möbius #annulenes . Very proud of Karn Parmar who conceived and executed the project and fully deserving of being corresponding author.
