Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland, was admitted to the Inn in 1594. For 17 years, he was imprisoned at the Tower of London due to his complicity in the Gunpowder Plot. He was known for occupying his time experimenting in the Tower's laboratory and bowling in the gardens.
