Wrapping up my visit to Deep South Rupununi, our final stop was in Potarinau Village to hand over a contract for a water distribution network. A new well was recently completed to serve a cluster of 30 households who were not previously receiving potable water.

A new well and water supply system was also commissioned in Rupunau village, Deep South Rupununi - Region 9.

As my two-day visit to Region 9 continues, we journeyed to Awarewaunau village in Deep South Rupununi, where we commissioned a water supply system to cover 95% of that community.

The facility will provide water to approximately 400 households and public buildings.

A New Well for Karaudarnau Village!

A new well and water supply system was commissioned in Karaudarnau Village, in Deep South Rupununi.

The system’s coverage was boosted to reach 80% of the village, enabling service connections for an additional 120 households.

It was great being back in Aishalton Village - Region 9 to hand over a contract for the installation of a water distribution network. I joined Health Minister, Dr. Frank Anthony who is in the region for the LLIN Mass Distribution Launch 2024, as part of the fight against malaria.

Earlier today, a total of sixty families received their steel and cement vouchers. Certificates of title were also distributed.

Last evening, our community meetings continued with Hon. Vice President Jagdeo in ‘C’ Field Sophia. A number of roads will be upgraded in ‘C’ and ‘D’ Field, and the residents took the opportunity to raise matters related to their community development with the Vice President.

Earlier this afternoon, I joined Hon. Vice President Jagdeo, and other cabinet colleagues, for a community meeting and contract signing at the Sophia Primary School. A total of 29 roads will be upgraded in ‘A’ Field, Sophia, through the Ministry of Public Works.

This afternoon it was my pleasure to make a presentation at the MINURVI 2024 – Ministerial Meeting of Amazon Countries, being hosted in Brazil, to discuss public policies on housing and urban development to meet the challenges of the Amazon region.

Today, we took some time to meet with residents of Leonora to address concerns raised over the use of the roads in the area by contractors and truck drivers. In the next few days we will implement measures to alleviate the discomfort of the residents.

By the end of day one thousand five hundred, (1,500) Guyanese will be recipients of residential house lots, in the new Wales Housing Development Scheme on the West Bank of Demerara, as the first 'Dream Realised' House Lot Allocation exercise is underway.
