NEW: Mayor Eric Adams and Edward A. Caban have released new information showing that approximately 48% of individuals arrested on Tuesday evening at Columbia University and City College of NY protests were unaffiliated with the schools.

New: Of the 282 arrested at Columbia University and City College of NY, 134 were not “affiliated” with either school.

The remaining 148 did have an affiliation, according to a NYPD official who shared the breakdown with CNN.

NEW: On NPR, Mayor Eric Adams says 'over 40%' of protestors arrested and those who participated in Columbia and CCNY protests are non-students, which is the first time anyone from the admin or NYPD has released any percentage or number. Still awaiting more details.

Gov. Hochul in a speech this afternoon says violence and vandalism was 'escalated' at Columbia University and crossed a line from the exercise of free speech.

'Targeting Jewish students for the actions of the Israeli government is also antisemitic and wrong,' she says.

who broke into the building includes students, it is led by individuals who are not affiliated with the

NEW - Mayor Eric Adams says Columbia protest has been 'co-opted' and is going to share their intel, he says at 1 Police Plaza. He advises students involved in the protest to leave the area and tells parents to tell their kids to leave 'before the situation escalates.'
