Today I visited my alma mater @gwuniversity to see for myself what these protests and the tent encampment was really all about. People are free to make their own judgments based on what they see in this video, but here are some of my impressions.

First of all, the protesters…

Pure escapism. Detachment from reality. Political incoherence. Our academic and intellectual elites continue (not all or always but too often) to focus on unhelpful nonsense

Part of the problem on campuses now is that while presidents, administrators, and many tenured faculty became conformist, cowardly, and autocratic, and want their universities to be like them, the admissions people didn’t get the memo and kept admitting too many thoughtful kids.

White people in general don’t often scream “I’m a professor”. This is unhelpful, unkind, and irrelevant.

This is not a good analysis and it is pernicious towards Holocaust victims and survivors. There is almost no connection between Israeli leaders today and the Jews who were victims of, or survived, the Nazi genocide, except in their use of the Holocaust as propaganda
