So much fun! Love to see our students observing, reading, and writing in science. Critters give students concrete experiences to build on!

So lucky to get to spend the eclipse with A.S. Johnston Elementary School! Loved hearing students and teachers talk about what was happening as we experienced this amazing phenomenon together.

It's critter season in . All elementary campuses are observing life cycles, exploring interdependency, and learning about animal structures and functions. Catalina Vargas, what a great idea to borrow from other classrooms! Love the creative thinking!

Yes, a great read. This stood out to me as a science educator. Great science teaching involves both--time to explore and explain.

Messy science is the best science! Plants are so much fun to learn about. Can't wait to see those seeds sprout!

What a great open house and science night Elliott Elementary School! Special shout out to the Nimitz High School science club and Ms. Mendez. They went all out with hands on activities to get kids excited about science! Microscopes, slime, fossils, pipettes and pennies. So many smiles!

Great read about new meta-analysis regarding phonemic awareness. My favorite quote, 'More importantly, the science of reading is the same as any other scientific inquiry. Every new answer may also raise new questions...' kqed.org/mindshift/6324…

We learn best from each other! Mini-edcamps give us time to swap ideas and find solutions to the challenges we face. Today we talked about spiral review and how to make word walls work.
