As I’m nearing the end of my Master’s Program, that I chose to do all the while writing full time as a television writer, I ask, where was this tweet when I started?

Stop using waiting on other people as an excuse not get things done. “So and so didn’t…. So I can’t …” Stop! If the consequences of not getting a thing done, directly affects you, then its your job to find another way and get it done.

Solid advice

You cannot trust people whose words & actions don’t match. Yes, occasionally we all have an inconsistency. But if its every time, that’s not an inconsistency. That’s their character.

Every writer needs to remember that they're not alone. You're not the first person to go down this road. Every published author began in the same place as you. Struggling, doubting, wanting to give up. But like every author you love, you can succeed just like them.

There are some writers, their writing is not for me. But they give fantastic writing advice. These two things can co-exist.

The floppy disk holds the first screenplay I ever wrote. 2 months later, I got my first credit that started my career. The quote reminds me to not fear insecurity because it’s a part of the process. The disk reminds me of how far I’ve come.
