Believe me when I say these people are my heroes! They are true champions of us writers, they read us, invite us into their bookshops at night and put our words into the hands of those they think (know) will appreciate our words the most, the readers x theguardian.com/books/2023/dec…

Great honours come in many guises, but for me as a writer, getting to talk about E P Thompson and this seminal 1963 work of heart was the greatest - my episode's on tomorrow 10.45pm but you could do worse than listen to them all 🎧 bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00… BBC Radio 3

Writing Memoir I realise how important our trauma stories are and how important it is that they are told - not only so others might understand our experience, but for our own power, the discovery of shared voice. Through writing we are taking control, healing, stamping shit out

The thing about writing memoir is you have to tell the whole story the way you see it & it might be through the lens of a chaotic childhood, might be heard from beyond the waves, but each sandy footstep you took alone, it's your story for the telling, so tell it
