NBG Security and JRM Fire & Emergency Services personnel respond to a simulated threat during the Final Evaluation Problem (FEP) Feb. 15. FEP is a CNIC tri-annual certification, assessing command, control, communications and Security Forces (NSF) on all U.S. Navy installations.

JRM Fire personnel, assigned to Sta. 4, visited J.Q. San Miguel Elementary to bring awareness to students about fire prevention, Feb. 9. Students toured the fire truck, familiarized themselves with firefighting apparatus, and discussed fire safety.

Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) arrived at NBG as part of a scheduled port visit, Feb. 6. The carrier is joined by Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 and Destroyer Squadron 23. Welcome to Guam!

Lt. Matthew Harrington was promoted to his current rank at the NBG HQ, Feb. 1. NBG CO Capt. John Frye administered the Oath of Office. Harrington has served as the NBG Security Officer since May 2023.

Capt. John T. Frye relieved Capt. Michael D. Luckett as commanding officer of U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG) during a Change of Command ceremony held at Top o’ the Mar in Asan, Jan. 26. Fair winds and following seas Capt. Luckett & welcome aboard Capt. Frye!

NB CO Capt. Michael Luckett cut the ribbon to kick off the grand opening of the Navy Exchange (NEX) Micro Mart at Camp Covington Oct. 25. The Micro Mart is the first within NBG proper. Since its soft opening on Oct. 19, the store has already seen approximately 1,500 customers.

Personnel from NBG's Fleet and Family Support Center participated in an outreach event at the Micronesia Mall in collaboration with the Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence. The event was one of many in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

It was a Pet-tacular Day at the NEX Guam Home Center as pets (and some owners) donned their Halloween costumes Oct. 21. Congratulations to all the winning pets and thank you to NEX for coordinating a funtastic event for our four-legged friends!

DeCA Director and CEO, John Hall visited Orote Commissary to meet with local commissary leadership and employees, Oct. 21. During the meeting, Navy leadership conveyed their concerns including product shortages, inventory storage space, and to discuss a potential path forward.

The Big Screen Theater at NBG is actively undergoing a $1.3 million repair following significant damage from Typhoon Mawar. The repairs are expected to be completed by the end of November 2023.

Personnel from Navy Exchange Guam stocked shelves as they prepare to open the newest NEX Guam Micro Mart at Camp Covington. The store is anticipated to open on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Once open, the store will operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week using a self-checkout system.
