More than a thousand students, faculty, and staff walked out of class today at the U of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus in solidarity with the 9 arrested this morning—7 were students—for trying to setup an anti-genocide encampment. Beautiful.

The irony that a university named in honor of the most infamous genocider of the Americas—Columbus—is also ground zero for crushing anti-genocide protests in the twenty-first century should not escape notice.

McCarthyite doesn’t capture the kind of backlash we’re experiencing. This is an attempt to crush legitimate protest against an unfolding genocide against Palestinians backed and funded by the United States. Solidarity with Dr. مُحَمَّد‎!

Yesterday I watched MoTaz and Najla Said talk to Columbia students and cried. I watched Nick Estes talk to anti-genocide protesters in MN and cried. I watched Nerdeen Kiswani speak to Columbia students AFTER HER WEDDING. I watched Cornel West jump a fence to speak. Tbh,

TollinginPolitics Nick Estes Conclusion most people draw
from the Chenoweth-Stephan book is wrong:
They think
'non-violence is more effective than violence',
but that's a survivor-bias reasoning error.
The revolutions that can be won with non-violence
were before-the-fact easier to achieve to start with.

Ace Frahm TollinginPolitics Nick Estes In all honesty, and with a total disregard for modesty, I have to say that I don’t even almost understand what that means, and that I’m not very accustomed to how that feels.

Nick Estes What’s the irony? It seems pretty consistent. It would be irony if the school was named after someone who was against genocide
