Twitter Web App : Europeans and the rich escaped the worst of the plague; labourers and the middle classes took the brunt of it.
(Published in 1896-97)

Twitter Web App : One of the criticisms Ive faced over the years is that Im not aggressive enough or assertive enough, or maybe somehow, because Im empathetic, it means Im weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate & strong. Jacinda Ardern

Twitter Web App : Elena Ferrante, in 2018:

"Where was the good, where was the evil? Who was the just, who the unjust? Who was interpreting facts, and who twisting them to create propaganda?"

Twitter Web App : A thread i keep coming randomly back to. So much hope and love and reflection in it. Thank you, Surekha twitter.com/surekhapillai/…

Twitter Web App : JS Indian Supreme Court Accelerated recently, but honestly some of these trends have been developing over the last 15 years (over-broad national security legislation, media trials as in the Afzal Guru case which now looks deeply flawed, police encounters, the growing number of undertrials in jail).

Twitter Web App : Police encounters;
wrongful arrests;
cases filed under sweeping anti-terror laws;
media trials;
the denial of bail to prisoners who are yet to face trial; crowded jails where basic rights are withheld from political prisoners.

The justice system is so broken.

Twitter Web App : It is the job of the courts to deliver justice.
It is the job of the police to deliver the accused.
Shocking that India under @BJP has confused the two. twitter.com/MahuaMoitra/st…

Twitter Web App : Countries where they're jailing protestors for protesting.
Where the prison system is broken.
And where the police operate with full impunity.
(So many similarities.)

Twitter Web App : "During lockdown, Indians rediscovered nature. Looking outwards towards trees & wildlife caused people to look inwards, finding succour in the bird in the balcony. At the same time, environmental governance faced an unforeseen challenge."
