Couldn't figure out how to take this headlamp apart elegantly, so resorted to brute force with a hammer! It's probably the first item I've disassembled without a single screw. The yellow LED chips are so tiny for how luminous headlamps are - rad!!

New year, same nerd!

Nearly impossible to get a fly fishing hook two dimensional enough for everything to be in focus, but here's part of a rainbow emerger under my microscope at 40x. Mega rad - those colors!

90s-era AM/FM radio! Quite a few boards on this one, 50 million screws, a monster transformer I wasn't expecting (the big brass-looking brick on the right), super neat array of button switches for power, volume, play, pause, tuning, etc. And speakers are still the coolest thing!

Finally had some decently cold temps, so as usual this time of year, played around with bubbles and the effortlessly gorgeous feathery shapes that form when they freeze!

Rad things found on cold days in the woods! Hoar frost.

A stillness drifts with the path of the sun.

Changing state during a transition, ice grows solid and stronger with time.
Yet still, things flow.
So lay it all on the line.

Pockets of warmth suspended in the air.
Caught endlessly, yet seemingly rare.
Formed with the passage of time,
the ridge rises with power and grace.
So stay unwaveringly rooted.
And just move at your own pace.

Glittery paper (this one silver) will forever be one of my favorite things to look at under my microscope. Putting on a show at 40x - so pretty!
