I'm here to keep saying 'net-zero by 2050' is disastrous and tantamount to climate denial. As a global society we need to move that up significantly to avoid truly catastrophic climate and ecological breakdown the likes of which we're incapable of imagining outside of fiction.

Dude I hate to be the one to break it to you but everything we produce is thrown out i.e. buried in landfills unless otherwise stated, even then something like only 1 in 5 items put in the recycling bin is actually recycled.

are out there RIGHT NOW using acre–feet as a unit of volume and we're just supposed to be okay with that? 😅🤢

The original blog post by Greg Laden is a great read on how deniers will mischaracterize headlines about the energy crisis and make them appear to be about the so-called Ice Age prediction: scienceblogs.com/gregladen/2013…

'Net-zero by 2050' allows 'leaders' to conveniently avoid dealing with climate NOW. It puts the burden squarely on young people. It hides climate injustice between rich and poor nations. And it invokes magical technologies to reduce urgency.

The latest disinformation circling the twittersphere asks why the impacts of climate change appear to stop at the Canadian border. The answer is simple: because US maps only show US data. For Canadian fires, see: cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/interactive-map

What do you do when there is no peer-reviewed studies to support you? Climate deniers slam the peer-review process. How sad and desperate of them... and more proof that climate denial is a lost cause

What if instead of giving vague responses you actually critiqued the paper I sent you? Saying 'well I know the literature' when I send something is not an adequate rebuttal, the paper is still sitting there, uncritiqued... almost as if you don't have anything to say in response?

James Hutton, the founder of modern geology, was born in 1726. He proposed the idea of Uniformitarianism, that geological processes occurring now are the same as ones occurring in the past, unseating catastrophism and implying the Earth was much older than Biblical accounts.

Our new paper in GEOLOGY led by Sophie Hage: sandy turbidity currents effectively sequester fresh terrestrial organic carbon. Have carbon burial estimates in fjords & submarine canyons been underestimated? We suspect so... bit.ly/2XNFZ3y

Physics is a fundamental aspect of climate science. As is chemistry, geology, etc. A physicist is therefore provisionally less an authority on climatology than a climate scientist bc it is the ability to analyze from multiple disciplines that is the climate scientists speciality.

Ed Bohman Your MSc does not serve you well, as you seem not to understand how the scientific process works. The studies are all peer reviewed and their methodologies have been published, and the results support them.
