Ambivalence about treatment is more common than not with severe mental health problems.

The symptom you see is often something that serves a protective function.

Don't discharge people because they are ambivalent. It is an increasing trend - and a dangerous one.

National Survivor User Network Fifteen thousand people who died despite being under the care of community services

But nobody's counting the numbers of deaths of patients who were unable to get needed care from CMHT

So many of us have been discharged or declined care - including SMI patients

This is the reality of austerity's impact on our mental health system. A culture of violent neglect. This is not just a statistic - this is fifteen thousand people who deserved so much better.

Still time today to pop to the Forum Norwich to see Remembering Together. Their welcoming table at the Norfolk Makers Festival is full of love, connection, kindness and support. Find out about upcoming workshops, make a memorial heart for the collective quilt or just have a chat 🥰

Is it too much to ask for honesty, openness, prevention of harm, better treatment of vulnerable people and an understanding of mental health issues? Not from the library or a retail outlet- but from our MENTAL HEALTH trust. People could get better if you do better.

THROWBACK THURSDAY! To when I was told it was sexist to be worried about being assigned a male therapist after asking for female (which I was told before was fine) and instead of them acknowledging how hard it would be, they had me do a chain analysis for my problem reaction😁

Amazing piece of work! It’s a shame not more care has been put into the placement. It’s the only wall that’s purely staff access -their grand entrance coming down the stairs. When sitting in that intimidating space, there should be work on the SU level😩

I was also diagnosed with EUPD from a psych I’d never met, a system I’d never known, coming from working full time and studying. He saw me for 20 mins, even accused me of alcoholism..I have emetophobia so never had any substances but by the time you read the letter..too late. 1/4
