117,415 Nebraskans signed the successful referendum petition to let voters decide the issue of diverting public funds to private schools. These senators are trying to take away your right to vote on this issue. Tell them to VOTE NO on cloture on LB1402! nsea.org/LetMeVote.

'117,000 Nebraskans petitioned the government...to put it to a vote of the people this November. We've listened to the voice of the people on other petitions...so I guess my question is, when did we stop listening to our constituents?' - Sen. Tom Brandt

LB1402 only serves one purpose: to deny the voters from having their say on the issue.

If it was about the kids, why is it REDUCING the amount going to private schools by $15 million?

This is purely to move the vouchers into a system they think can't be subject to referendum.

β€œWhen we circumvent the will of the people, when we refuse to hear the voices of the 117,000 people who said, β€˜yes, we want to vote on this issue,’ who are we to decide that we know better than them?” Senator Carol Blood

The Nebraska case allowing scholarship aid to college kids is clearly distinguishable. There the aid went β€œto” students because they had the power to spend it at either public or private schools. /
