A few hurtful things people say about slaveholders.
1. They were men/women of their times
2. They were kind to enslaved people
3. They were theologically 'sound'
4. Their theological contributions outweigh their moral flaws
5. Slaveholding was a minor part of their total lives

I've been ruminating on something Esau McCaulley said. 'These people not intellectually serious.' The racial justice critics denigrate, defame, and dehumanize. They generally don't present more research, data, or facts. Just bombast. It's lazy, boring, and tiring.
