One thing about the call for divestment is that it forces us to confront just how naturalized the imperialist position is. It's considered a non-political issue for higher ed institutions to profit from war, genocide, and occupation. What's 'political' is asking them to stop.

If you’re involved in any of these anti-genocide actions at universities, please make sure to save your emails, flyers and other papers so that in 50 years your university can proudly display them as part of their special collections

Also, to smear and silence these protestors, some elected officials and pro-Israel activists are now calling them terrorists, Hamas, and comparing them to Nazis who marched in Charlottesville.

How do you think that will work out?

Try not to get distracted. The reason why there is a diverse, growing coalition protesting across US campuses is due to Israel's brutal war that has killed over 33,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and Biden's 'ironclad' support for what many consider to be a genocide.

Three hundred bodies exhumed from a mass grave *in a fucking hospital* including the bodies of medics *still in scrubs and wearing handcuffs* and the loudmouths are sucking up all the energy arguing over whether students and other people are protesting the correct way

Starting to understand the calculus here: any protest against the genocide can be invalidated by the actions of people outside of them, or any imperfection, real or imagined, but nothing that the state murdering and starving a population of people does can be criticized.

This is a perfect example of how there is a bipartisan climate denial consensus. Republicans are worse and that matters, but humanity deserves “Target.”
