My feed is full of Libs excitedly pointing to a post on UN withdrawal & Cons bemoaning the PMO explaination of who was paying for PM’s vacation. Can I point out that all of that is utter bullshit? Shouldn’t we be focussed together on stopping this escalation of antisemitism?

Worth your time. I disagree a bit re: number 3 (to the extent overlapping jurisdictions casue problems, they are better explained by #2, state capacity), but in the main - excellent.

That said, I would also suggest that the root cause of pretty much all these issues is Fleece.

We pay too much attention to the most confident voices—and too little attention to the most thoughtful ones.

Certainty is not a sign of credibility. Speaking assertively is not a substitute for thinking deeply.

It's better to learn from complex thinkers than smooth talkers.

The federal government's Recruitment of Policy Leaders program is now open for applications.

Can attest as alum from 20 yrs ago that this is unique opportunity to jump into the fray of thorny, fascinating public policy issues from day 1.

Your worth is not defined by what you achieve or acquire. It’s a question of who you become and how you contribute to others.

Self-esteem should come from character, not success or status. The highest accomplishment is to be a person of generosity, curiosity, and integrity.

“This is how you change the world, the smallest circles first… That humble energy, the kind that says, ‘I will do what I can do right now in my own small way,’ creates a ripple effect on the world.”

My Grampa passed on Sunday after a very fine journey of 35,795 days. He made our lives better in too many ways to count. We were the luckiest. Ponder forever ☘️💚

The scale of challenges ahead can feel overwhelming, but small behaviours, in aggregate, have impact. So make an appointment to donate blood. Shovel your neighbour’s driveway. Make soup for someone. Donate $ to a shelter. Take time to listen. Sooo many things in our power to do.

I try to have Intellectual humility in my work but it’s easy to forget that social psych/behavioral econ is just one lens through which to view the world. This is a quick and powerful reminder of how many diverse perspectives we can learn from. nature.com/articles/s4156…

Leaders must communicate that it’s OK not to respond to things in real-time, that it’s OK to decline meeting requests, that it’s OK to turn off notifications, and that it’s OK to not be online all day. hbr.org/2021/12/remote…
